Astroplate 2014 proceedings ( link to PDF), pp. Workflow for plate digitization, data extraction and publication. Tuvikene T., Edelmann H., Groote D., Enke H., and the APPLAUSE Collaboration. The PyPlate workflow is described in the following conference paper: The pyplate.solve module provides functionality for running SExtractor to extract sources from plate images, solving astrometry with, and carrying out refined astrometric calibration in sub-fields with the SCAMP software. With the tadata module one can read plate metadata in WFPDB and CSV formats, carry out calculations with timestamps and celestial coordinates, save metadata in FITS headers, and output metadata into a MySQL database. PyPlate has been successfully used for processing data for publication in the APPLAUSE database. That will go to host this project on it’s own site (capable to handle a large world wide collaboration database) and also to develop a wide spectrum of aditional features.įor further details on how you can help please contact me.PyPlate is an open-source Python package for carrying out tasks in the digitization workflow of astronomical photographic plates. I am looking for sponsorship to support this free software. Anyone interested in helping me to test and optimize it please contact me.Īlso, I am working to add translation in twenty different languages to start with, so if you are willing to help on this please let me know. The project is to be released as a pre-alpha (concept proof) state and in order to test the the main functionality. Current pre-alpha release is only for windows, to follow with a Linux and MacOSx release as soon as I pass the beta test. OpenGL, OpenCV, Boost and other portable libraries so that it can be compiled/released on other platforms such as Linux/MacOSX/etc. The application is written in C++/ wxWidgets (cross platform GUI library), Passing through, integrated telescope and digital/video camera control, online database/interface to work as a colaboration tool for plate solutions. Additionally, I implemented a wide range of features like plotting the asteroids path, artificial Earth satellites UniMap is a free/opensource application which I mainly developed to do the plate-solving (automated detection and sky catalog matching) for astrophotography. Astronomy Software - picture identification - plate-solving - astrophotography - integrated telescope-camera control uni Map
